Extra virgin olive oil is a product with many healthy properties and plays a very important role also for the beauty of the body both as a food and in the form of a cosmetic

 

The properties of olive oil as a beauty treatment were known by the most ancient peoples, in all Mediterranean and Arab countries.

Extra virgin olive oil is a product with many healthy properties. The Phoenicians called it liquid gold", the Egyptians used it to soften the skin and to make the hair shiny, in ancient Greece the athletes used it for massages and frictions.

 

The fat composition of Olive Oil is very similar to the sebum of the skin, it is the vegetable oil that has the greatest affinity with the lipid layer of the skin, therefore it is a natural Antiage. It is rich in  Vitamin E which counteracts free radicals, the main causes of the aging process and Vitamin A which prevents dryness of the skin and lips.

 

Furthermore, Olive Oil is rich in squalene which is able to penetrate the deepest layers of the skin and renew it when it is weakened by the suns rays and aggressive detergents. Finally, it contains unsaturated fatty acids such as linoleic and linolenic which prevent skin disorders such as acne.

The treatments that keep us young

In addition to using the products on the market, it is possible to use extra virgin olive oil- preferablyMediterranean Cilento Oleum-also in DIY recipes for the face, body and hair.

 

 

Peeling: 

to be used once a week: mix baking soda and extra virgin olive oil until you obtain a creamy consistency and lightly rub your face, then wash with a delicate soap, your skin will be perfectly smooth and you can even do without using the cream.

 

Scrubs: 

mix extra virgin olive oil with a handful of coarse salt (or fine if you have sensitive skin), rub on the skin of the body and rinse; it is also effective for dry skin on elbows and heels.

 

to also give tone to the skin and fight against cellulite:

mix 2 tablespoons of coarse salt, two teaspoons of coffee grounds and then add a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, mix and rub on the body. Wait a few minutes and rinse.

 

Eye make-up remover

Even the heaviest makeup won't be able to resist the moisturizing power of extra virgin olive oil. Dab gently with a cotton ball or a make-up remover pad and you will see that eyeshadow, mascara and eyeliner will be short-lived.

 

Skin moisturizer

You might think that using extra virgin olive oil to moisturize your skin could leave it greasy and greasy. Nothing could be more false: if applied in small doses it will penetrate deeply, hydrating the skin without clogging the pores.

 

Hair oils:

Lemon and olive oil are natural strengtheners. Prepare a mixture consisting of two tablespoons of olive oil and one tablespoon of lemon juice, then emulsify everything well. Every evening, massage the nails with the mixture obtained.

Rinse thoroughly, wash with a suitable shampoo. A faster solution is instead to mix the balm you usually use 1 glass of honey and 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, apply and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse well. To make hair shiny: heat the olive oil in a bain-marie and with a cotton ball, distribute it evenly over the hair, leave on for at least half an hour; rinse.

Use a few drops of olive oil to tame your hair

frizzy in winter or humidity days.
